Mama and Me

Now that I am a mom of 3 it’s not that time flies, it actually EVAPORATES!

Finding balance as a Mother is not easy, the challenges set forth by adding that “bundle of joy” to our lives as amazing as it is….can knock us off our feet. The lack of sleep, lack of time alone, juggling the household chores, coordinating the activities, school and play dates… never-mind trying to maintain a career or simply pre-motherhood relationships, the never ending demands upon us seem only to increase and that is why, excuse me these too are the reasons why I swear by yoga. Not only does it keep me balanced emotionally but the healing process and pure act of countering all the damage a busy life can create.

Those of you who have been following my journey for a while, already know I have been dedicated to Yoga 6 days a week since Feb. 2014. Making this my fourth year practicing daily to maintain sanity, get & stay balanced, tone physically and over all “Feel Better!” It’s working beautifully! My baby is now 3.5months old and I can tell you, what a difference doing yoga during pregnancy made and then post delivery as soon as the required 8 weeks of initial postpartum healing was complete, on the mat again I was. It’s awesome to hear others notice, “Danica, you look great, didn’t you just have a baby!?!” Yes, yes I did….but it’s not only about the physical results, actually it’s not about the noticeable results at all… it’s all about the process.

Self-Help is just that, you helping yourself and absolutely required in all transitions and transformations but everyone needs a little coaching. Support and education along the way. My Guru is Kavita Maharaj of Reddoor Yoga and even though I too teach, I must constantly learn. This past January 14th I received my certification in Postnatal & Mama and Me Yoga, it’s part of the 500 hour certification course but I choose to take it early to start now specializing on an area that I am very familiar with; Motherhood. I think the hell I went through being laid off for taking Maternity leave while working for the Astani Brothers at Astani Enterprises and HPG Management in Beverly Hills during my first pregnancy and Birth of daughter Alicia was specifically to bring me to this very point.
